Ingredients

 

  • ½ cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed (from 2 – 3 large lemons)
  • ½ cup (100 g) sugar
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) rosewater
  • cups (840 ml) filtered water
  • a few slices of fresh lemon, for garnish optional

Instructions

 

  • In a large pitcher, combine the freshly strained lemon juice with the sugar, rosewater, and filtered water. Stir diligently until the sugar is completely dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or honey if desired, or lighten the flavor with extra water or a splash of sparkling water for a fizzy twist.
  • For optimal refreshment, serve the lemonade thoroughly chilled, over plenty of ice, and garnished with a few fresh lemon slices to enhance its visual appeal and citrus notes.

Notes

When selecting rosewater, always opt for varieties that contain minimal ingredients. Ideally, choose one that lists only “rosewater” or “distilled water plus rosewater concentrate” on its label, avoiding any artificial additives or perfumes.

If you are new to the unique flavor of rosewater or unsure about your preference, begin by adding just 1 to 2 tablespoons when you first prepare this lemonade. You can then gradually increase the amount of rosewater to suit your taste. While ¼ cup might seem substantial for other culinary applications, it achieves a perfect balance in this lemonade, harmonizing beautifully with the acidity of the lemon juice without being overwhelming.
